Recognizing a Need

It all started with an Australian by the name of Jay Black. On a 122 degree day in the Outback of Australia, Jay decided his propane powered refrigerator just didn't perform like it should. An industrial electrician by trade, Jay decided to build a portable refrigerator/freezer that would freeze in extreme heat and could sustain the abuse of the rugged terrain of the Australian Outback. But that wasn't enough. This unit also must be the most efficient portable refrigerator/freezer around!

Coming Up with a Design

Jay then built and patented a design using the outside casing as the condenser, which makes the FridgeFreeze refrigerator/freezer extremely efficient and durable. This also allows the FridgeFreeze refrigerator/freezer to perform well in extreme heat. Combine this with an anodized aluminum casing, stainless steel hardware, three inches of high grade polyurethane insulation, and the Danfoss compressor, and you have the best performing, most durable, and most efficient portable refrigerator/freezer made.

Manufacturing the Product

Once the design was complete, Jay partnered with his brother-in-law to begin manufacturing. They also started building vaccine refrigerator/freezers, which have been sold all around the world. Jay still manufactures by hand in San Diego, but now he has a few more employees helping him out.

Growing a Company: FridgeFreeze Today

FridgeFreeze refrigerator/freezers are used by boaters, off-road race teams, jeepers, campers, the US Army, US Air Force, state and county health departments, mobile health clinics, hospitals, diabetes patients, and researchers. The business is growing every year and the vaccine refrigerator/freezers are selling faster than FridgeFreeze can build them.
